First responders were dispatched to the scene and are attending to those involved. According to reports from authorities on the scene, one individual in the other vehicle (not on the school bus) has been transported to the hospital. One student is reported to have a minor injury. Six Southview Elementary students were on the bus when the accident occurred. They have been released and are being transported to school. UPDATE: The Missouri State Highway Patrol has confirmed that the driver of the other vehicle involved in this morning’s accident with a Durham Transportation Services bus has died. Our thoughts are with the individual’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

We have also learned that some students may have witnessed or heard about distressing aspects of the accident and its aftermath. KSD staff are providing additional care and support for those students, and counselors and other staff members are available to assist any student who may need help processing what happened.

We are grateful to the first responders, law enforcement officers, Durham Transportation Services staff and KSD employees who responded this morning and cared for our students. We will continue to support the students and families affected by this tragedy.
